What is purpose? When you think of the word purpose, what is the first thing that comes to your mind?
Purpose – The reason for which anything is done, created, or exists.
Passion – is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it.
In God’s Word, He said we were created before the foundations of the world.
Isaiah 49:1
“Listen to Me, O isles and coastlands, the brokenhearted, the peoples from afar. The Lord has called me from the womb; from the body of my mother He has named my name.”
Wow. That is a lot to take in for one person. How do we exist? Because of Jesus.
Proverbs 19:21
“Many plans are in a man’s mind, but it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand.”
When we look at our life and see where we came from, who we are, how we got here, and our surroundings that molded us into us—we wonder: Why Lord? Why am I here? What is my purpose?
Our purpose is to be—be ourselves, be in our character, be in our name of who God says we are. Our passion is what drives us, what motivates us. Our purpose is what defines us.
“You are called by My name,” says the Lord God Almighty. “I have formed you in your mother’s womb. I have given each of you a unique form, and gifts to be used for My glory and for My church.”
We were all made differently, yet one. I love that I read this:
“Our purpose is the natural process of living in which we come into the full awareness of who we are.”
Then, once we discover that, we take our passion and apply it to who we are—and walk out life more abundantly and fulfilled in Jesus.
Look deep within your soul and ask yourself:
Who am I? Why was I created? What have I given to this world? Do I fit in?
Yes, you fit in—or else you would not be here reading this right now.
You have a purpose—and that is being YOU. And out of YOU being YOU will follow your passion.
And God says in Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.”
What do you like? What comes naturally to you? Go discover those things—your talents, what you’re good at, what makes you scared, what holds you back.
I say go now—be on your way to divine purpose.
